Proper mounting screws are critical for reliable WME readings from the S-1, S-10, S-11 and S-16 series sensors. The wrong type of metal can result in the inadvertent creation of a battery which would cause incorrect WME readings. Failure to use a suitable split washer will result in erratic readings as building materials go through thermal cycles. Our screws and split washers are high quality 18-8 stainless steel and the length is just right to result in full thread engagement in 1/2" thick lumber without penetrating all the way through. The screw and split washer combination have been field tested to work reliably in most wood materials through extreme temperature cycles. We do NOT reccommend these for use in drywall.
