Concrete cure temperature can be monitored using the wireless battery powered OmniSense S-2 sensor and a A-1 temperature/humidity probe. The temperature and humidity sensor is located at the tip of the A-1 probe which, by design, has to be open to the air. Since the the A-1 is not waterproof you must make it waterproof by sealing the tip of the probe using electrical tape, plumbers putty or your favorite silicone RTV. The S-2 is also not waterproof so it must also be protected from exposure to water using a outdoor rated junction box, NEMA enclosure, plastic bag etc. Zip tie the A-1 probe to the monitoring point remembering that it is the tip of the probe where temperature will be sampled. The A-1 cable is 2 meters long so you must locate the S-2 above the concrete pour within 2 meters of the monitoring point. Ideally zip tie it to a convenient conduit, pipe or piece of rebar.
You will need a OmniSense gateway within 300-1000 feet of the sensor depending on the wireless obstructions. The sensor will send a reading every 5 minutes to the gateway and the gateway will forward that on to our server using a cellular internet connection. You can then login to your OmniSense monitoring account to view current and historical data as well as download data to Excel where you can, if needed, compute time at temperature which can then be used to predict the curing progress of the concrete. Or contact us and we can run time at temperature reports for you.
With this installation the concrete temperature is sampled ever 5 minutes and sent to our server via a nearby OmniSense gateway.
